Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting tasks, manage financial transactions, prepare financial statements, analyse financial data, and ensure accuracy and compliance for a US client. The Senior Accountant will also provide guidance and support to the accounting team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Day-to-Day Accounting Tasks
• Maintain and update financial records.
• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions. - Manage Financial Transactions
• Oversee and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies. - Prepare Financial Statements
• Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. - Analyze Financial Data
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights.
• Provide detailed reports and recommendations based on financial data analysis. - Ensure Accuracy and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and standards (e.g., GAAP).
• Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. - Provide Guidance and Support to the Accounting Team
• Mentor and support junior accountants and other team members.
• Assist in training and development of accounting staff. - Liaise with External Auditors
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits.
• Provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors. - Assist with Budgeting and Forecasting
• Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Monitor budget performance and report variances. - Implement Process Improvements
• Identify areas for process improvement within the accounting function.
• Implement best practices and efficient accounting procedures. - Collaborate with Other Departments
• Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support.
• Ensure cross-functional coordination and communication regarding financial matters.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Experience with U.S. financial regulations and reporting requirements is a plus
• Experience with reviewing and finalizing financial statements prepared by other team members is a must.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards – US GAAP is a plus
• Experience with financial reporting and financial analysis
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Professional certification (CPA/CIMA/ACCA) is a plus
